Michigan State University’s Axia Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Swaminathan “Swami” Subramanian as business development director.
Swami joins the Axia Institute from Eaton, where he served most recently as a Senior Innovation Specialist, having been with the company since 2011. Dr. Subramanian has over 16 years of experience, dividing his time between research and commercialization. He was highly recognized and awarded for his efforts on commercializing leading edge technologies and products in vehicular, aerospace, hydraulics, industrial automation, and smart IOT systems at Eaton. He is well known for securing research funding, having been awarded over $15 million by the U.S. government for white space explorations. Before Eaton, Swami worked for Argonne National Laboratory and supported Department of Energy (DOE) funded programs.
“I’m thrilled that Swami will be joining the Axia Institute,” stated Katherine A. Franz, executive director. “His experience in industry and with the commercialization of technologies will be important as our institute continues growing and bringing on corporate partners,” continued Franz.
Swami earned a Master of Science By Research in Internal Combustion Engines from Anna University, as well as a Ph.D. in Internal Combustion Engines (Emissions and Fuel Economy) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
Dr. Swami Subramanian brings expertise in corporate innovation and business model development, program management, and collaboration. He hopes to use his experience to lead and develop a strong growth curve for Axia partner industries and organizations.
