Neutral Evaluation of RFID Tagged Items – Item/Case/Pallet

Axia Lab is equipped to test an RFID tag’s optimum placement on one item to organizing packaged items on a pallet for maximum visbility. This page provides a “tour” of our RFID Testing Lab, the tests and reports generated and the leading-edge tools and equipment that make our research possible.

Item-Level Testing: RFID Lab

Overview

Testing individual items for end-to-end visability and traceability using RFID begins in the RFID Lab. Here, tests are done to identify the optimum tag and placement of the RFID tag. This RFID Lab has been granted ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) for demonstrating technical competence in the field of testing.

Testing & Performance Parameters

This RFID Lab  has been granted ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) for demonstrating technical competence in the field of testing. The ISO-17025-2017_Certificate applies to the testing of UHF RFID-tagged items using Threshold Sweep, Orientation Sweep, and GS1’s Tagged-Item Performance Protocol (or TIPP) Guidelines.

Item level RFID testing includes the following tests and performance parameters.

Case or Tray-Level Testing: RFID Packaging Lab

Overview

Axia’s RFID Packaging Lab performs readability and verification tests on item-level tags or secondary packaging in a non-isolated environment. Here, totes, trays and boxes are run through one of two RFID tunnels to simulate manufacturer or distributor shipments or tested using a state-of-the-art RFID cabinet designed specifically for healthcare.

Testing

The case/tray/box level RFID testing includes:

Tests

  • Read Rate
  • Reliability Testing
  • Success Rate
Equipment

The following highlights some of the industry-leading equipment used by Axia’s RFID Packaging Lab to conduct case/tray/box testing:

  • Brady HH85 Handheld RFID Scanner
  • CCL eAgile RFID Enabled Conveyor Portal
  • Cubixx RFID-Enabled Cold Temp Enclosure

Pallet-Level Testing: Pallet Wrapper Lab

Overview

The Axia Lab can test products at the pallet level with our RFID-enabled pallet wrapper. This allows optimal readability at a tertiary packaging, high-product volume level as the machine rotates past the antenna multiple times allowing Axia’s team to receive highly accurate results.
