The highlight of the meeting was a demonstration of “iRX,” a web application that provides access to pharmaceutical prescription information by scanning the UPC code on the prescription bottle or packaging, or by entering the 12-digit NDC barcode. The meeting outlined Axia’s consortium blueprint process along with a three-year, phased solution to make prescription drug information available anytime, anywhere to improve the health outcomes of patients.

As part of Axia’s research, a third-party survey is being conducted to help the consortium better understand how patients, hospitals and retail pharmacies are currently using patient information leaflets. An update of the consortium’s progress will be shared at Axia’s annual Value Chain Summit in Midland, Mich. on October 21-22, 2024.

The Digital Labeling/e-Leaflet Initiative began in August 2023 at a meeting in Washington, D.C. This marks the group’s fifth meeting.
