Exploring Supply Chain Management Strategies – Event Recap

On May 19, the Axia Institute hosted its third Revolutionizing Patient Safety webinar titled Exploring Supply Chain Management Strategies with a Patient-Centric Approach.
Joining Axia for this webinar were Namrata Jain, Group Manager, Channel Inventory Management, Genentech USA, Inc, Dr. Vedat Verter, John McConnell Endowed Chair of Business and Chairperson of the Department of Supply Chain Management at the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, and Chris Vieau, Director of Supply Chain Management, MidMichigan Health.
During this session, the Axia Institute announced the formation of its new Healthcare Consortium that is being created to address supply chain concerns across the Healthcare industry. Axia also introduced its new Axia Lab that will be opening to provide RFID Testing and validation services for the pharmaceutical industry.
During the webinar, panelists engaged in dialogue on a series of topics including:
- Ways the industry can work together to guard against counterfeits and diverted product;
- Ideas for how the health care industry can work together to help health care providers and pharmacists better comply with regulations like the Drug Supply Chain Security Act, or DSCSA; and
- Practices the industry can follow to improve data sharing across the value chain.
Axia Institute Research Leader Dr. Bahar Aliakbarian moderated the session along with Mark Karhoff, Principal at Ten Count Consulting. During the webinar our pharmacy participants shared their perspectives on the patient-centric supply chain while sharing their challenges and opportunities for improvement.
